When the iconic Rock & Roll Hall of Fame needed to refresh two of its outdoor food trucks, the goal wasn't necessarily to make them look brand new forever—it was to extend their lifespan long enough to bridge the gap before replacement.
The vehicles had been exposed to years of Northeast Ohio weather, daily use, and constant public visibility. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame needed a solution that would improve appearance, protect the underlying metal surfaces, and provide durability in a demanding outdoor environment.
Complete Painting was selected to complete the restoration and refinishing project, delivering a professional finish designed to withstand the elements while maintaining compatibility with new branded graphics.

Project: Paint Food Trucks
Completion Date: May 2024
The two food trucks serve as highly visible assets outside the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, making appearance and durability equally important.
The project presented several unique challenges:
Most importantly, the Hall's initial objective was simply to gain approximately one additional year of service life from the vehicles before replacement.

This preparation created a clean substrate capable of supporting a long-lasting finish.
Once prepared, the vehicles were coated with:
KEM Bond Industrial Rust-Inhibiting Primer
This industrial-grade primer was selected to help protect exposed metal surfaces while providing an ideal foundation for the finish coat.
To provide durability and a professional appearance, we applied:
Sher-Cryl HPA High Performance Acrylic Coating
This coating system was chosen for its durability, weather resistance, and ability to maintain appearance in outdoor environments.

Unlike many field-applied painting projects, these vehicles were refinished using professional spray equipment and controlled conditions.

The vehicles were painted inside our ventilated spray booth, allowing us to control environmental conditions and produce a smooth, factory-style finish.
The result was a level of finish quality that exceeded what would typically be achievable in an outdoor environment.

One of the most critical aspects of the project involved collaboration with the graphic design company responsible for applying the food truck branding and vinyl graphics.

The original expectation was to extend the life of the food trucks by approximately one year before replacement.
The results exceeded expectations.
More than three years after the project was completed, the food trucks continue to perform and maintain their appearance so well that replacement has not yet been necessary.
